Checkpoints

There are 16 checkpoints spaced between 5 and 12 miles along the length of the Ring O' Fire course. If you inadvertently miss a checkpoint you will incur a three hour time penalty, which will be added to your time at the end of the Stage. You will be disqualified if you fail to reach a checkpoint within the designated cut-off time.

Firelighter and Ring O' Fire follow exactly the same route for the first day and share the same checkpoints.

Please see the Schedule page for full details of check point locations and opening/closing times and more.

You can expect the following at our check points:
Drinks - water, coke or squash
Coffee/tea available at CP3 Wylfa (Day 1), CP10 Sea Zoo (Day 2) and CP13 Rhosneigr (Day 3)
Hot soup available at CP11 Newborough (Day 2)
Food - savoury snacks, fruit, chocolate, sweets and lots more - we'll ask what you like before the race!
Bacon or veggie butties, coffee and tea - CP13 Rhosneigr

Race Marshal to record your time

Please bring your own water bottle / hydration system and cup if needed for coke/water etc. We are not dispensing in plastic bottles or cups. This is to minimise litter-dropping on the trail and limit our environmental impact.

What do people say about us?

"Big heartfelt thanks to ALL RoF team for an excellent weekends adventure around your lovely island with like minded lunatics. You need to make it tougher though because even though I had NO sleep for two nights due to a mating walrus in the room and nature threw some pretty grim weather at us on day two I still managed, albeit only just, to complete the challenge and I loved it. You know when your truly knackered when you're marching along and you can't even bother to deviate your stride from hitting an enormous fresh steaming cow poop. Not an event to be taken lightly."
